On Thursday May 23, on Lag Ba’omer (when schools are off for the day), around 48 of Israel’s museums will open their doors for free, to participate in International Museum Day.
This year, the theme of Israel’s International Museum Day will be the museum’s symbol as a cultural incubator – the future of the past.
This topic was chosen in order to turn the spotlight on the museums’ important role in preserving the tradition, passing it from generation to generation and adapting it to the future generation.
