Wherever you hike in Israel, you will notice markings along the routes which do actually have meaning and it is helpful to have an idea of what they mean!
FUN FACT: Did you know that the first ever trail that was marked was in the Yehuda Desert in 1947?!

Did you know that at the start of a trail, you will see a horizontal stripe?
If you see a vertical stripe like the one pictured above when you enter the Nachal Amud National Park trail, that just means you are on the red trail and that it is a 10km track (should you follow it all the way). You might see this marking with different colors - the color actually doesn't mean anything, it just differentiates between different trails.
Safe hiking!
