Did you know that Israel celebrates ‘Family day’ or Yom Hamishpacha every February/Shevat?
What is it?
Originating from the idea of mother’s day, it evolved to become a special day to celebrate the whole idea of family. The Hebrew date is always 30th of Shevat – ל’ שבט which this year, is 25.2.20 – but events for yom hamishpacha will be going on all week…especially if you have nursery school aged children!
So what events are going on country wide specifically for this special day??
Smartphone navigation games at National Parks. Dates seem to only be on Shabbatot but maybe if there is demand they will consider opening up on Fridays?!
North:
Head to the Hermon! The Hermon has enjoyed some great snow this Winter – we highly recommend it, even just for the day!
The Mall in Shaar Hatzafon has baby music for free, and on 26.02 a free movie and free popcorn, showing the movie (dubbed to Hebrew): Duck, Duck, Goose
25.02 – The Wizard of Oz will be performed at 17:30
Park Balagan will be open in the afternoon on Yom Hamishapacha!
In the Center:
Oshiland has a Ninja course throughout February, and on 25.02 will have a special event for Yom Hamishpacha at 17:00.
If the sun is shining, take scooters along the promenades and spend some time at the beach in the Winter sun!
In the South:
What more special way than taking the family South to the Darom Adom festival!
